Today I realized that 10 years ago this month, I started working for a florist while I was in school at Pittsburg State. (𝘛𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘩𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘓𝘪𝘭𝘺 💁🏼♀️) I knew nothing about flowers and I was a delivery driver / bucket washer / flower processor for the first year or so.. Gradually I began to learn how to design, names of flowers and learned basics of how a flower shop operated.
During this time, I was SO struggling at school and could not figure out what direction to go in.. I knew I wanted to help people and I knew I was creative.
After all these years, I’ve made some of the very best friends from flowers. I’ve found a way to combine my desire to help people in need and my creativity. It feels crazy, because with my name being Lily it’s been right in front of me my whole life. 🤯
I have so much more to learn. I wish I could go back and tell 2009 Lily what was ahead and I wonder what 2029 Lily will have accomplished and learned.
“You’ve always had the power my dear, you just had to learn it for yourself.” 👠🌾
