I typically stay away from painting faces becasue I always felt I wasn't good at it. This canvas has been painted over at least twice, painting Frida just felt right.
What I admired most about Frida was how she didn't let life's circumstances hold her back. She used those circumstances to fuel her passion, fuel her art, and her political beliefs no matter how radical. She embraced the things that made her different, that others told her would set her back or "weren't good enough" and made them beautiful.
So to embracing my style, my new found love for painting faces no matter how imperfect they may be... 🙏🏾🙌🏾🎨
