As a child, I enjoyed reading and immersing myself into a story or adventure with the anticipation and joy, similar to a small child in a candy 🍭 store or perhaps a child visiting their favorite toy 🧸 store. You see, each storybook 📖 was a new journey for my vast imagination and love for vivid tales to embark upon, taking me away from the monotonous world that barely held my attention on a good day. As someone who later in life would find that my never resting mind suffered from attention deficit disorder, I often struggled keeping my thoughts and actions under control. I also found myself in trouble if I could not keep myself busy, so one of the many things I chose to seek out was reading. When I say reading, I mean soaking up any form of reading, any details that were in written form. I would find myself reading newspapers 📰 , magazines ,The National Enquirer, school books 📚, library books, instruction manuals, encyclopedias, etc. You see I was born at a time where computers 🖥, smartphones 📱, tablets, and the internet were futuristic ideas that were in the making. So I frequently played outside in the great outdoors with my younger brother or finding ways to occupy my time on my own. The more I read, the more I wanted to find something else to read. I thoroughly enjoyed trips to the library (school and our community) and to my grandmother’s house 🏡 because she had a ton of magazines in her salon 💇 for her clientele. I felt more like a sponge 🧽 wanting to soak up all things written!! As an adult, I can now read or listen to audio books of all varieties of story/adventure/book genres and hope to one day write books of my very own.
