Jenny is 20 pounds overweight and very unhappy. She lacks energy to get through the day and has a low level of self-esteem. She frequently focuses on her bank account and thinks to herself how she would be able to improve her quality of life if she just made more money!
She eagerly waits for her paycheck to get cashed in her bank account on Friday. As soon as it does, she decides it’s time to celebrate payday with her co-workers by going out for drinks.
That weekend, she wants to do something that will make her feel better. So she decides to go down to the mall and get some new clothes. When she’s trying them on in the mirror, she bitterly wishes they would look more flattering on her body. “I seriously need to lose this weight! I’ll get started next month, after I can save up a bit more money.” She then proceeds to charge the new clothes to her credit card.
A month goes by and she is still looking and feeling the same. Her friends talk to her about an all-inclusive trip to Mexico for a few days. It sounds so fun and exciting - but she’s worried about spending the money. Her friends convince her how fun it will be and she figures, what’s another $2000 on her credit card, she’ll pay it off eventually.
She goes out to get a new bikini for the trip and is once again reminded of the state of her fitness. “It’s ok, for sure after this vacation, I’ll get started on that!” So she proceeds to go on vacation and the entire time she’s at the beach, she wants to hide in a towel. She’s trying to have fun with her friends, but in her head, she has the nagging thoughts of low self-esteem.
The sad fact of the matter is that there are thousands of women like Jenny out there. They’re unhealthy, unhappy, and finding the years going by without any changes. But they have convinced themselves that they can’t afford to get the help they clearly need.
It's not that they can't afford it, it's that they are not getting resourceful with their spending. "It's never a lack of resources, it's only a lack of resourcefulness."
