Researchers from the University of Toronto have determined that food insecurity in Nunavut has gotten worse in spite of the introduction of the Nutrition North program in 2011.
In the study, householders in the north were asked questions to determine whether they were food insecure. Respondents were asked such questions as whether they were worried about running out of food, if their families were skipping meals, or even going a whole day without food, because they couldn't afford it, and if they answered yes to any of 18 questions, the household was deemed food insecure.
At DueNORTH, our goal is to raise funds to support breakfast programs for the children living in these food insecure households. Please visit our website to find out more about what we do. The link is in our bio!
