A little throwback to costume day😸 and our intro to long a (magic e✨). We began each lesson with our #wholebrainteaching long a movements and words, their hard work and engagement deserves all the 😍. #setthestagetoengage
These 20 little angels make every day worth while! Some days may be long, some days may be extra tough, but each day is worth it to see the growth these children have made since day 1. Also, seeing there sweet little smiles is a bonus 🥰🥰
Today we read the story “Santa’s Stuck” by Rhonda Gowler Greene. My kids loved this silly story and the craftivity that went with it. We loved brainstorming ways to help Santa get out of the chimney! Check out First Grade WOW’s blog for the free resources that I used to go along with the story!!!
So, again, I’m dramatic...
But it’s true! December is when we have to do ALLLLLLL THE THINGS. What do you have to get done before winter break?!
PS don’t forget to go check out @fifthismyjam’s page! She’s has so many amazing ideas that you NEED! This quote is just one of the quotes that are totally relatable. Go now! :)
the best first grade team right here, were we naughty or nice?? 🍎🎄
You’ll never believe what our Winter the elf did this weekend!! She made tons of glitter snowflakes and hung them up all over the classroom. My firsties were ecstatic this morning when they saw that Winter was frozen in the middle of her decorating frenzy! I love this time of year and all of the joy it brings. ✨
If you’re looking for a “scientific” way to teach about reindeer, then check out @thefirstgradeparade’s Reindeer Science unit! This is only one of the cute activities that comes with this unit. This mini book is packed full of pages for students to share their knowledge on reindeer- what they eat, where they live, what their adaptations are, etc! Grab it on TPT today!!
We are embarking on opinion writing! Out first attempt was ...: well not so great so we are starting over. I am guilty of sometimes forgetting that my kids are 6&7... they do so many amazing things that I’m like ..... we are about to kill this... then reality hits and I’m like ok Jenell let’s continue to lay the foundation that got them to where they are! So we are going back to our notes to guide our writing ✍️! .
I don’t let my kids copy me. So we start with the notes as a skeleton, once they are halfway i pause them and model my expectation. It helps to lay a foundation and helps me to begin to scaffold the work! .
Writing is difficult for first graders! But it is worth it in the end! Watch us work! .
Today was the day to wear my new Gingerbread Man tshirt. We also read some stories and started cinnamon applesauce ornaments, but the tshirt was my highlight and most of my firsties got the humor. #gingerbreadman
