|| They tens mainstay IV || (1907) Hilma af Klint (1862 – 1944) was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings were among the first Western abstract art. Klint began creating radically abstract paintings in 1906, they were like little that had been seen before: bold, colourful, and untethered from any recognisable references to the physical world. Klint belonged to one of the first generations of women to receive a higher education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Kungl. Konstakademien) in Stockholm. She was accepted into the Royal Academy of Fine Arts at the age of twenty. Wassily Kandinsky is generally regarded as the pioneer of abstract art but Klint might claim that title having created her first abstract painting in her Stockholm studio in 1906, five years before him. #art #HilmaafKlint #swedish #mystic #abstractart #radical #bold #colourful #royalacademyoffinearts #stockholm #WassilyKandinsky #history

Hilma Af Klint, The Swan (No. 1), (1914-15). This work is about striving for balance. Also, if you missed this epic show at the Guggenheim last year, I’m truly sorry. But it’s never too late to become an Af Klint fan, fam. [📸: 10/2018] #hilmaafklint @guggenheim
|| The Land's Part (yellow, blue, green) || (2017) Loie Hollowell (1983) is a Brooklyn-based, American painter who creates abstract biomorphic paintings that suggest spirituality and sexuality. Hollowell’s paintings radiate energy, stemming from an ongoing stream of consciousness. The geometric, almost sculptural forms across her canvases balance abstraction and figuration. Hollowell’s work is humorous, but nods to a rich history of abstracted figuration - O’Keeffe, Elizabeth Murray, Hilma af Klint, amongst so many others. Her works are kinship with these blue-chip feminist abstractionists and this might have something to do with why she has become one of the most successful young artists in New York right now. #art #LoieHollowell #painter #american #abstract #spirituality #sexuality #geometric #ElizabethMurray #HilmaafKlint #feminist #artist

The making of the Hilma print....first inspired by the artwork of #HilmaafKlint I then paint different designs...once I land on the best one, I send my artwork to Jaipur and it is carved by hand into a wooden block by a skilled artisan...then another skilled artisan uses that block to print the fabric, stamping it with the hand carved block...next the printed fabric heads to our women run factory for hand embroidery details and finally stitched into garments to be worn and loved 💫💖 // It’s all very much true #SlowFashion and #luxurycraft // Know your source, #SeekProcess #SeekCollective //
I used to practice channeling... For almost 2 years (2014-2016) I would consistently go into a trance-like state, where I would do my own form of automatic writing, and I would have my ex-partner “scribe.” Words came through in Turkish, and Aramaic...prophecy foretold that in 2019 there would be fires and devastation, a very dark period of time. I channeled an entire book on the major arcana as a key to the human soul. I have books of our transcripts, books that I will never publicly share (while I’m alive at least). The language can be poetic and angelic, but at times the information was confusing, disorienting and like a collage of consciousness that seemed to leave more questions than answers. The advice was not always sound. I closed that portal in 2016, but the same visions come through my dreams each night...through meditation and entheogenic experiences. Last night I “channeled” but through art...abstractions of awareness. Insight through imagination. Before drawing, I asked what angels *really* are, and this is what came through. “We are stars. Angels are stars. Living stars. Light consciousness.” The mind is a divine instrument, curiously complicated and complexly curated. However you choose to tune this instrument, and whatever you choose to listen to...if the insight offers illumination, there may be usefulness even in the small sparks of light. 🔥 ⭐️ 🔥

Though her paintings were not seen publicly until 1987, her work from the early 20th century predates the first purely abstract paintings by Kandinsky, Mondrian and Malevich. When Swedish artist Hilma af Klint died in 1944 at the age of 81, she left behind more than a thousand paintings and works on paper that she kept largely private during her lifetime. Believing the world was not yet ready for her art, she stipulated that it should remain unseen for another 20 years. But only in recent decades has the public had a chance to reckon with af Klint’s radically abstract painting practice – one which predates the work of Vasily Kandinsky and other artists widely considered trailblazers of modernist abstraction. Accompanying the first major survey exhibition of the artist’s work in the United States, Hilma af Klint represents her groundbreaking painting series while expanding recent scholarship to present the fullest picture yet of the artist’s life and work. Essays explore the social, intellectual, and artistic milieu of af Klint’s 1906 break with figuration and her subsequent development, placing her in the context of Swedish modernism and folk art traditions, contemporary scientific discoveries, and spiritualist and occult movements. A roundtable discussion among contemporary artists, scholars, and curators considers af Klint’s sources and relevance to art in the 21st century. The volume also delves into her unrealized plans for a spiral-shaped temple in which to display her art – a wish that finds a fortuitous answer in the Guggenheim Museum’s rotunda. orders to: booksinprogressmilano@yahoo.it ordini a: booksinprogressmilano@yahoo.it twitter:@fashionbooksmi instagram: #fashionbooksmilano @designbooksmilano tumblr: #fashionbooksmilano #designbooksmilano #HilmaafKlint #abstractart #swedishartist #artexhibitioncatalogue #fashioninspirations #abstractpatterns #textiledesign

Hilma af Klint (October 26, 1862 – October 21, 1944) was a Swedish artist and mystic whose paintings were among the first Western abstract art. A considerable body of her abstract work predates the first purely abstract compositions by Kandinsky. She belonged to a group called "The Five", a circle of women who shared her belief in the importance of trying to make contact with the so-called "High Masters"—often by way of séances. Her paintings, which sometimes resemble diagrams, were a visual representation of complex spiritual ideas. #hilmaafklint #modernamuseet #stockholm #sweden #pittrice #artista #artist #arte #art #painting #dipinto #artoftheday🎨 #instaartwork #instaart #instaart #artwork #museo #museum
More Hilma af Klint, from the Guggenheim’s exhibition of her work. October 2018
Hilma af Klint (Swedish, 1862-1944) // She is one of my favorite painters, and I was lucky enough to see her exhibition at the Guggenheim last year. The exhibition was wonderful, and fulfilled the artist’s wish that her body of work would be exhibited well after her death in a spiral that viewers could wind around. Klint’s work is infused with intuition, and it seems to transcend space and time, reaching for the unknown parts of consciousness. She channeled her own subconscious and spirituality to make large-scale, original paintings that were ahead of their time stylistically. I appreciate the finely tuned aesthetic balance her work achieves in its abstractions made up of geometric and organic shapes, symbols, and applications of color theory.
