Phillipe Meyers gives us a great example of how to force a defending player to come to a standstill. There are couple things to unload from this quick clip:
----- He uses a quick inside edge cut to change his skating angle, stays deep in his knee bend, and explodes laterally into his head fake.
----- Instead of skating down the wall, where the open ice is, he attacks the forward head on, opening up the opportunity to cut back to the middle, forcing the defender to respect that option as well.
----- Lastly, the timing of the fake is equally as important. Watch as Meyers waits to suck in the forward before making the move, optimizing the amount of space he gains after the head fake.
