Hip, hip, hooray! This must-read middle grade book is now available in paperback!
Me, Frida, and the Secret of the Peacock Ring is a story that highlights the importance of both family and friendships. Just a few things I love about this book ... it includes age-appropriate mystery and suspense, features a relatable character in Paloma Marquez (who is reluctant to leave her friends in Kansas as she travels with her mom on her first trip to Mexico City over the summer), and makes unsuspecting connections to history and the life of the famous Mexican artist Frida Kahlo! There are many more reasons to love this book, but you should definitely check it out for yourself.
I also had the privilege of meeting the author, Angela Cervantes, last summer at the ILA conference in Austin. Her story of why she wanted to become an author literally left me in tears. I absolutely love that she is fulfilling her calling by providing high quality children’s literature so other little girls have the opportunity to see their own reflection. ❤️❤️❤️
