MUSIC STREAM PLAYLISTS
RELEASE DATES ARE IRRELEVANT! 😲🚫AGAIN, (repeat after me): “Release Dates are irrelevant!”
allows this ... come-on folks! This is part of why “music executives” were banished decades ago and you went DIY!!! .
YES, you’ll still have an #AlbumReleaseParty
to celebrate your new album !!! 🎉🎤📸
Insofar as getting & listening to your new album ... .
nowadays people aren’t going to the “new release” bin at their local retail record store anymore on “release day” 🗣🏤 ...
RATHER, people are #searching
for new-music online by #context
and that allows #focus
on the music songs and your band story 😃🎼 versus #hyping
the anticipated release date! 👏👏 .
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR ALL MUSIC, WHETHER “NEW” or “OLD CATALOGUE” IS THAT IT CAN REMAIN EVERGREEN!!! 🏞🌲 ...
And shouldn’t the #story
be about the music/band ... instead of which month/year that it was released?? (who really cares if it’s “new”... someone just discovered your band/song for the first time, and that’s all that matters right now!) 💪👄🗣🎯
Dare to resurrect that oldie-but-goodie! ... when considering what songs to focus effort on #musicstream
sites, a song from your old catalogue can be included on a playlist of other similar artists! (just like an old-fashioned mixtape) 📼🕹
allow more “passive listening”!!! 🎧 And realizing this allows artists virtually unlimited ways to re-“contextualize” your music 🎭 .
listening versus #active
listening ~ “active” means picking-out your CD 💽🚗 from a binder in your car, placing it in the CD-player, and being prepared to listen for the next 40min ... whereas, “passive” means casually listening to playlists, for purposes of this conversation.
Playlists works differently, and although it’s more difficult to create #superfans
this way, artists should ACCEPT THEIR FANS MAY JUST BE LISTENING TO THEIR MUSIC PASSIVELY! ... BUT, have them discover your music on #numerous #numerous #numerous,
did I already say “numerous” PLAYLISTS!!! (hint: this means you ask your own fans to include your songs on their personal playlists!!! 💡👍)
