5-Veggie Bolognese Sauce Recipe ⠀ An easy way to pack vegetables into a Bolognese sauce that’s sweetened with carrots instead of sugar. Serve over zucchini noodles for a low-carb, gluten-free, nutritious dish! Perfect for moms and kids, also great for diabetics! Plus, it’s freezer-friendly so you can store leftovers.⠀ ⠀ Ingredients⠀ • 3 lbs zucchinis - spiralized⠀ • 2 large carrots⠀ • 2 cups of mushroom⠀ • 2 cups spinach⠀ • 2 lb ground grass-fed beef⠀ • 1 onion⠀ • 1 clove minced garlic⠀ • 1-2 Tbsp ghee⠀ • splash of red wine⠀ • 2 cans crushed tomatoes⠀ ⠀ Directions⠀ 1. But with a sweet tooth he’s been able to tame in recent years and a desire to be stronger and healthier though it is his toughest battle. 💪🏻 Since marrying me, he has discovered a love for... salad. Arugula and spinach! Bring on the veggies just give them a ton more flavor. He’s not terribly into the raw stuff. I think we’ve all gone through a phase. 🥗 He ebbs and flows and works at the discipline. After thinking about this new season with back to school, baseball coaching and fast moving life we have, he needed a reboot in the nutrition department. In fitness, we began a journey 50 days ago with (doing our best thank you Kasper) 20-30 minute workouts that have sped up metabolisms and increased our energy and strength. Next, I coached him through a three-day program that reboots metabolism, rid system of toxins, debloats, squash desire for junk food and sugar, rebalances your internal sugar/insulin, and give good gut health. My sister and I have an estranged relationship. A few people know the extent of our relationship, & why I cut ties with her many years ago. I don’t have her phone number. She wasn’t invited to my wedding. Sometimes it’s necessary to unfollow people in real life. Yes, even family, when they’re toxic to your well being. The above quote came from her mouth. I was in college when she said this to me, training for a half marathon, & I was in the thick of disordered eating & a horrible relationship with food & exercise. Don’t get me wrong- this is something I said to myself COUNTLESS times, but to hear it out loud from someone I had no respect for, or anyone for that matter… stung. And clearly stuck with me. This certainly wasn’t the first (or last) hurtful thing she’d said to me, especially about my body & appearance. But sometimes all it takes is one comment. And I know from talking to other women about similar instances that many of us experience one comment (or more) that sticks with us. That stays in the back of our mind, makes us second guess our intentions, makes us feel less-than, not worthy or good enough. Like we need to try harder, do more, be more. Maybe you’ve experienced something similar. Yours might have been much more well-intended than mine. You might not have even realized the impact it had on you until later on. If you want to share with me, send me a DM, I’d love to talk about it with you. Our language matters. The way we speak to ourselves & others, it matters. Words stick to our brain & have a major impact on the actions we take & the love we hold. Be mindful of the way you speak to yourself & others. Even well-intended comments can often do more harm than good. Think before you speak. Also, you are enough. Just as you are right this moment. — I feel I should note that my sister has come A LONG WAY since this time of our lives. She’s done a lot of work on herself & has tried to make amends with me. I’m stubborn & protective, & I’m not ready to let her in. I don’t know that I’ll ever be ready. These things are complicated.

One of the many benefits of dark chocolate is that it is high in antioxidants and flavonoids. Flavonoids are a large group of plant-based antioxidants that are also found in fruits, vegetables, tea, red wine and beer. In 2016, eating dark chocolate was linked to reduced risks of cognitive decline of those aged 65+ as well as reduced blood pressure and improved circulation, while cacao consumption has also been linked to improved insulin sensitivity and lipid profiles – indicators of diabetes and cardiovascular disease risk. Posted @valasoft@foodsile Barbecue Chickpeas 😋 Served with some rice, avocado, and greens for a delicious meal! . Recipe 2tbs tomato puree  3 tbs maple syrup  2tsp vegan Worcester sauce 1tsp garlic puree 2tsp tamari or soy sauce  1tsp liquid smoke (optional)  1/2 tsp cider vinegar Pinch of salt  1tbs of water to thin it out and a little coconut sugar after you have tasted it, you might not need it! 1 can of chickpeas, rinsed and dried with a kitchen towel . Method;  Place chickpeas in air fryer for around 10-15 minutes at 180degrees. Keep checking on them and giving them a toss around make sure they get the same amount of cooking on all sides. For the sauce, simply combine all of the ingredients and mix well. Taste it make sure its to your flavour. Once the chickpeas are ready they should have a little crunch on the outside and still soft in the middle. Warm a little of your sauce over low heat and toss the chickpeas in there to get them nice and coated. [Recipe] This blueberry and plum crumble took less than 15 minutes to throw together - and using some ready-made plum jam from @alcenero made everything so much simpler.  This jam is sugar-free and contains just 4 simple ingredients - organic plums, grape juice, apple puree and lemon juice. Most jams are high in sugar or artificial sweeteners - which is just so unnecessary and bad for you.  Consuming too much sugar can lead to health problems such as obesity, diabetes and heart disease.  A recent study published in the JAMA Internal Medicine showed that participants who took in 25% or more of their daily calories in sugar were twice as likely to die from heart disease compared to those who had less than 10% added sugar in their diets.  Here's how you can make this low sugar crumble! For the crust, just mix 3/4 cup of coconut oil, 1/4 cup of @alcenero rice milk, 1/4 cup of @alcenero brown sugar 1 tsp of cinnamon, 1 tsp of baking powder as well as 1.5 cups each of almond flour and rolled oats.  Spread 2/3 of the mixture in the base of a rectangular baking tin. For the jam mixture, blend 2 cups of blueberries, 1/2 cup of @alcenero plum jam, 4 tbs of chia seeds and 2 tablespoons of grated coconut.  Leave the jam layer to set for about an hour to thicken up slightly before pouring it over the base. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mix over the top and bake at 175C for about 30 minutes. @alcenerosg is even running a competition now! For dinner I'm serving warm salad with all the kale, mushrooms, beets, mustard quinoa, walnuts and lemon zest. Saute half an onion, a couple of garlic cloves and fresh chilli before you throw in the mushrooms. Let them cook for a few minutes and add the kale with a little tahini. In the meantime cook quinoa and when ready, add mustard and lemon juice to your liking. Transfer the quinoa to the mushrooms and kale, give them a good stir and remove from the stove. Add baked beets, crushed walnuts and spring onion (or fresh parsley... didn't have any). Spicy cinnamon skin lovin’ matcha kinda mornin 🌿 Taking it slower this morning & grateful for it. Life’s been crazy, my health’s been crazy, and I’m taking it one step at a time during mornings like these. Still here tho, keepin’ it real and hoping to heal. It’s also dropped over 10 degrees in 12 hours, and here down south that means it’s suddenly “fall” overnight (aka 70 degrees & sunny). For me, that means passing up an iced nutrient dense drank for a warm frothy one instead and loving every sip. Especially when it’s a spicy matcha tea with a chai twist. I made my matcha first (trying out @fromthereserve organic first harvest matcha), poured it into my blender with some frothed organic oat milk & a lil @malkorganics vanilla almond milk, @vitalproteins collagen peptides (& a teeny scoop of @furtherfood beef gelatin for some extra strength gut lining protection). I added @sunpotion tocos for Vitamin E, some local honey, a dash of allspice cause FALL flavor tho, ground vanilla bean from @wildfoodsco for tons of antioxidants & of course all the cinnamon. Ceylon cinnamon in the drank & Saigon cinnamon to top. Yes, I know my cinnamon’s and I have studied them well, appreciating each one for their uniqueness. And, of course, for their anti-inflammatory + gut healthy (YAS Jong-In Kim et al., 2018) benefits. I have experimented with many brands over the years for my matcha & hot dranks so I’ll tag the faves and trust me, I got dat low down on my all time faves. To the blended dankness, add more cinnamon (~1 tsp) for some gut microbiome restorative action post E.coli invasion (you could use garlic but I’m not that extreme sorry Kansas State, 1999). It's hard to know which angle to approach this moronic story from. Is it how this same company was JUST telling us they were trying to help the planet and human health by offering beyond meat nuggets? Or is it how hopeless we are as a species if we start considering fake chicken smashed in between two doughnuts actual food? Or is is how as a society we continually pump money into companies who in turn make all of us sick? ...but have no fear...there's a pill for that! Each day I spend my time studying nutrition, working in a hospital trying to help a population of nurses and doctors live healthier lives and seeking content to share with people who ask me questions about their health or the health of loved ones and these are the things I see EVERY SINGLE DAY. And the worst part is....it doesn't seem weird to anyone. Common is not normal and this is a very strange time. We are sicker than ever and not getting any better. Yet we still rely on the food industry to supply our nourishment. I am urging you, if there is even one small way you can get your food off the grid...DO IT! Find local farms, eat seasonally, grow a garden, fast from time to time...we live in a toxic time and toxic times call for drastic measures. Ancestral measures. I am a wellness coach. This is my breakfast. I drink it every morning after my workout to get my vitamins, replenish my body and help fuel my day. . . This client came to me a few months ago on the verge of having her gallbladder removed due to the pain it caused and how inflamed it was. Her doctors were happy to just whip it out, because to them, not having a gallbladder isn’t a big deal 🤦🏻‍♀️ . ACTUALLY, having a healthy gallbladder and bile flow is CRITICAL for hormonal balance, removal of toxins via the bowels & the prevention of gut infections like #SIBO . You see, bile is like washing up liquid, and it helps to emulsify or breakdown fats in the intestine. It is also VERY antimicrobial 🦠 . A low fat diet, food sensitivities, poor gut health and oestrogen dominance (due to being overweight, environmental exposures or birth control use) can all lead to thick, sludgy bile which prevents those mechanisms above, from functioning optimally 👎🏼 . I figured out that this client had been on the birth control pill for several years (hello oestrogen dominance) and had Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (gut dysfunction) at the root of her gallbladder issues. I topped mine with my homemade nut butter, maple syrup, and banana coins. _ Pumpkin pie French toast 5-6 slices of grain free @awgbakery bread (sub any bread) 3 @vitalfarms Organic pasture raised eggs 1/3 cup pumpkin puree 1 1/2 tsp @primalpalate pumpkin spice 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 cup cashew mylk (sub any milk you use) 2 Tbsp @fourthandheart Vanilla Madagascar ghee (sub any oil you use for cooking/baking) Instructions 1. A brief trip south yesterday to visit the Farm of HRH Prince Charles and his gardens at Highgrove. We were invited by the wonderful Patrick Holden of the @susfoodtrust to discuss with many other policy makers/shapers, farmers, thinkers, national and global organisations, and business people, the climate change emergency we are in and how sustainable farming can play its role in helping to reverse that. After a day of thought provoking conversations I’m back home with my children and a feeling that I have known all my life. When you eat pasta without sauce, add avocado to make it creamy!! I could have made a sauce with the avocado but this meal was put together within 5 minutes!! I stir fried some carrots, peppers, and spinach (all from organic baskets that I had just picked up) and added some lentil pasta which cooks in 4 minutes. Seasoned with salt, pepper, and some dried herbs and thinking it might be a little dry, I quickly sliced half an avocado and topped my bowl. Finally, it would have been delicious without it, but any excuse to add avocado is a good one 😉. * * Si vous préparez des pâtes, mais que vous n’avez pas le temps de cuisiner une sauce, ajoutez-y de l’avocat et ça rendra le tout super crémeux 😉. J’aurais pu faire une sauce à partir de l’avocat, mais je n’avais pas le temps! Ce repas a été préparé en 5 minutes!! Je revenais de chercher mes paniers bio et j’ai rapidement coupé une carotte et un poivron et je les ai fait revenir à la poêle avec des épinards pendant que les pâtes bouillaient. Ces pâtes de lentilles sont prêtes en 4 minutes et je les ajoute à mes légumes directement dans la poêle une fois qu’elles sont cuites. J’ai assaisonné avec sel, poivre et herbes séchées et ayant l’impression que le tout serait peut-être un peu sec, j’ai ajouté un demi-avocat sur le dessus. Finalement, les pâtes auraient été délicieuses même sans l’avocat puisque les légumes étaient tendres et délicieux mais n’importe quelle raison d’ajouter de l’avocat est valable, n’est-ce pas? 😉. C R O W D in 🍠🥦🌽🥕 . I have been feeling like I am on the verge of becoming very run down. I have had loads on and have taken on more than I could possibly chew. So what is the first thing I could do for myself to get back on track and fuel my body with what it needs? The right food! Sleep is elusive in this house so at least I know that if I can pump my body full of plants- I am halfway to getting back to my best self! . This bowl is packed full of nutrient dense food.
