Aaaaand since I replayed DS1 on the remaster, I got to play Artorias of the Abyss for the first time........... it was fine.
I might have got more of an impact out of the DLC and the boss fights if I wasn't balls-to-the-wall overpowered.
But just hearing this DLC be hailed as Fromsofts magnum opus and the best content in the souls series, I was left mildly disappointed.
Anyways, the DLC opens off with an IMMEDIATE boss fight that's kinda annoying since the fucker won't stand still and just flys everywhere shooting you.
But he went down in a few hits.
Then you soon realize you're in a point in the base game but everything is all bright and happy as it's taking place in the past.
So seeing the fucked up world of Dark Souls in this perspective is genuinely interesting.
Too bad the opening area kinda sucks shit as there's bottomless holes camouflaged fucking everywhere. So this opening environment was basically home to all my deaths.
Then after getting past that you fight the big man himself.
The fight I've had hyped for me by the community for years as the best fight in the franchise.
Big Boi Artorias himself...... it was an okay fight.
I'd prefer the fight with Manus or even Kalameet more.
Artorias didn't really do anything out of the ordinary or specifically rad outside of the opening cutscene and he just kinda died in 8 hits.
Anyways, after that you can go into PvP lobbies that I ignored since I despise the PvP community of Fromsoft games.
Then you go to a Ringed City type area until you enter a black abyss which was actually kinda neat.
You could find a baby version of a base game boss here but he didn't really do anything for me after that, even during Manus as someone told me I could summon him.
Anyways, at the bottom of the abyss you fight Manus who is probably the hardest fight in DS1 and up there as one of the hardest in the franchise. But he was still fun to beat up
Then the DLC kinda just ends.
If I paid $15 I'd be bitter but playing it for free was a fun distraction.
