I was beaten by a child😰 . Not literally but I did get out squatted by a 15 year old. . Squats and I have a complicated relationship. They have always been my weakness. . It’s no secret my squat is well behind all my other lifts . . At first I just didn’t like them I said Strongman completions don’t really have squats so I trained them less. Stupid. . Then when I forced myself to do them more I didn’t really realize until almost a year into it I wasn’t hitting the proper depth. Fucking stupid. . I never really focused on how wide to stand or how much to bend over or really even the best place for The bar on my back. I just wanted to get them over with. Reaaaaaaally fucking stupid right? . Because of that I had to back off the weight and almost reteach myself how to squat as if it was my first time in the gym. . BUT Starting from square one is and actually doing it all properly slowly paying off. . Things like proper mobility and good form over ego lifting, squatting multiple times a week, doing the higher rep work that makes you want to puke, all that fun stuff is building my squat to where it needs to be. . Everybody has a weakness but it’s stupid to ignore it. Standing Military Press Make sure to grip the bar wider than shoulder width apart from each other. Slightly bend the knees and place the barbell on your collar bone. Lift the barbell up keeping it lying on your chest. Take a step back and position your feet shoulder width apart from each other. Once you pick up the barbell with the correct grip length, lift the bar up over your head by locking your arms. Hold at about shoulder level and slightly in front of your head. This is your starting position. Lower the bar down to the collarbone slowly as you inhale. I noticed the most hypertrophy in my legs and glutes when I: 1) Trained with progressive load 2) Set challenging set volumes 3) ⬆️up calories (focusing on carbs and proteins) 4) Was patient!!! I really like to challenge myself when I train, but in order to make sure that I give my body adequate rest, I ONLY train 4 times a week and switch up the type of workouts that I do. I lift 2x a week with 1 bodypump class= 1 complete upper body lift, 1 complete lower body lift. I hit cardio and abs 1x per week, and also enjoy taking yoga to stretch everything out! My current split has worked out this way because with my busy schedule, fitting in 4 workouts per week is totally doable, and I write my own workouts so I don’t get bored! I try to keep the same foundational moves, but switch up my supersets of accessories. Training has to be for you, and making a plan that works for you is SO important. It’s the only way you can make sure that you stick to it and follow through! Pharmacy school is starting for me NEXT WEEK and I am not ready 😂. With all the changes to come in my schedule, I hope to stick to this plan as I’ve been loving the growth I’ve been seeing so far. I really need to focus on my upper body though... it’s just hard because I love training legs so much more 😅. Anyone else feel me? Education. I bloody hated it. But I stuck it out at college and have probably started uni enough times to accumulate the time it takes to get a degree... But how bangin' are the flash cards I made to get me through it? I love learning, but I always struggled in a formal setting. What makes my job as a sports therapist more enjoyable is that I'm continually learning by myself. With each new client comes a new injury and sport for me to research. My primary goal is always to facilitate your recovery and get you back to your chosen activity as soon as possible. This wasn’t part of the plan today, but warmups felt better than usual so I went for it. • I’ve had a really big psychological struggle with squatting heavy the past few months, and I haven’t hit anything heavier than about 365 since June. Me cuesta relajarme y no estar con la cabeza en el finde pasado o en lo que se viene a partir del lunes, pero así como durante el año me obligas a hacer abdominales ahora me ayudas a bajar un cambio y entender dos cosas: Primero que el descanso es parte del entrenamiento, del proceso: articulaciones, músculos, hasta la cabeza y el corazón después de tantas emociones fuertes... todo amerita descanso, y nosotros venimos viviendo juntos mucho de todo eso. Y segundo que no solo queremos o estamos dispuestos, sino que también somos conscientes de todo lo que NECESITAMOS un año más largo, más duro, más difícil que el pasado para aspirar a mejorar y progresar todo lo que pretendemos... y para eso esta vez necesitamos aprovechar a full esta semana completa, y descansar. La mejor parte del camino siempre está en el próximo tramo; y lo más lindo de lo que pasó y de lo que se viene es saber que durante todo el proceso, cada vez que mire para un costado, te voy a encontrar a vos trabajando conmigo, y así simplemente siento que no puedo volver a fallar. #SomosFG y nosotros solamente sabemos bien lo que significa. I’ve gotten some questions about why I wear my high tops all the time and it’s not just because they look cool 😎 These shoes allow you to push through the floor much easier, which will allow you to produce more force during a lift. When you work out, especially during leg exercises you have to be driving through the heels. It is very hard to drive force through the heel in running shoes. The extra cushion in the sole does not support that. Flat footed shoes can help you to feel sturdier during heavy squats, deadlifts and any other free compound lift. . . . 🔺Full Workout . . 🔺Sumo pause deadlifts: Took a lesson from @bapple_benches here. My life is a constant whirlwind. I am always in the struggle of balance between hustling in my career to continue to climb the corporate ladder, keep up with my training, making sure I am the best Mom I can be in a single parent household and also not forget to socialize and spend time with those who bring me happiness. I squeezed in this workout early AM after dropping Adrianna off at the bus and before a conference call which will lead into another one. Then, picking up my daughter from the bus stop and helping her with homework, (sometimes rushing her off to ballet practice) making snacks and dinner and monitoring screen time all while I have another evening conference call and then starting the bedtime routine. I wake up and don’t rest until well after the sun goes down. But I never give up, I find the time for me in any small moments I can and I’m always proud when I leave the gym, Strength Training or in my Martial Arts. - The coaches here are extremely inspiring, I feel from day one I've been here, that this place is almost like a, it is a family to me, it's so inclusive, every person that works here makes me feel so welcome and so loved, and you guys are just so motivating. And that carries over to other aspects of life too, because I know that even though this is a gym and where I come to work out, that this is a support system as well, and I can come here any time I need it, and I get that from you guys working out, and that carries on throughout the rest of my day when I leave here. - I don't think anything I say will be good enough to describe how amazing the coaches are. It's been quite an awesome journey, so when I started out here, I was working out with Ariel on the foundations board and then she's kinda been there for me throughout my entire Washington Gym journey, which is still ongoing. And really it's more about motivation for me and then self, I guess, love. So a lot of times I find myself saying, "oh my God, "I sucked at that exercise," or "This was a terrible day." But Ariel quickly reframed that into "well, you showed up, "and you still gave it 100%." And she'll put it in a way where I can feel like "okay, "you know what, I did work out, and I did do my best, "and I should be proud of that." And while the results might not be immediate, they're going to be something that does eventually happen, as long as I continue to put forth that effort. - Yeah. - And if you don't show up for a day at the gym, I will tell you these coaches will text you and blow up your phone. - They are on you. - In the nicest way possible. - They are on you. - And so it's good, right? Äntligen kommer det lite bilder och videor från SM-kvalet i lördags, jag är ganska besviken med tävlingen men det är viktigt att komma ihåg att det inte alltid blir som man tänkt sig, totalt så låg jag 1,5 poäng ifrån att kvala så nästa år kommer jag tillbaka och siktar på att göra bättre! 📷1. Vikingpress 120kg, jag gjorde 5 reps men fick tyvärr ett borträcknat. 📽2. Böj för maxvikt, ingången på 160kg känndes riktigt lätt. 📽3. Top-vikten i böjen, siktade på 200kg men det gick inte riktigt, tapade balansen i utlåsningen. 📽4. Farmers för distans 115kg/väska. 📽5. Conans 280kg, tabbade till det ordentligt, ett av benen snuddade marken på första varvet så då fick jag inte fortsätta, det var tråkigt, känndes som det fanns mycket kvar. 📽6. Lastbilsdrag, massor med kilon, tyvärr så var den ställd i en uppförsbake så ingen kunde rubba den. 📽7. Loading-medley, 60kg däck, 50kg sten, 40kg kegg, gick på 54 sekunder. 📽8.
