Dejie and Edwin are BACK to give us updates on their adventures at Bowdoin College! 🙌🙌🙌⠀
⠀
Dejie Zhen has discovered his latent talents for Computer Science, finishing his last Computer Science project in less than 5 hrs! In fact, this course has become his favorite class as he is able to create a product by simply instructing a machine what to do. A Wunderkind in his own right, Dejie loves challenges that require a deep level of insight and long-term planning! In the future, he hopes to work in the field of machine learning (AI) or data science. For now, Dejie is hard at work on connecting with alumni for advice and guidance to internships in the fields of Computer Science. ⠀
⠀
Dejie also has BIG plans to travel and see the world! In the summer of his Sophomore Year, he is traveling to Japan thru Bowdoin's Joshua Chamberlain Scholarship. Directly after, Dejie hopes to study in Copenhagen, Denmark for the first semester of his Junior Year to take advantage of their excellent Computer Science program. ⠀
⠀
In terms of roles on campus, Dejie has quite a few: he is the First-Year Eco Rep for his dorm, a member of Club Tennis and Students of Color in Computer Science, an AV Technician (with Edwin), and has a side gig in the VR Lab to name a few..⠀
⠀
Meanwhile, Edwin Sanchez has become the First-Year Representative for LASO and was recently accepted to Bowdoin's Alternative Spring Break Program: Homeless and Colonialism in the "Racial Paradise" (Honolulu, HI) Thru LASO (or the Latin American Student Organization), Edwin visited Boston to attend a conference at Harvard on Intersectionality and the issues pertaining to people in the Latinx community. ⠀
⠀
With regards to Bowdoin's ASB program, instead of a traditional Spring Beak, Edwin will visit Honolulu, Hawaii to work with local organizations to develop an intersectional understanding of the forces that have determined who will be homeless, and how communities are advocating for justice.⠀
⠀
This Winter break, Edwin will travel to his hometown of Zacatecas, Mexico with his family!⠀
⠀
BONUS: Edwin is taking swimming classes 1x a week to eventually be able to scuba dive and swim with the turtles. 🐢 🐢 🐢
