“And what’s the Wendigo...”
“It’s nuthin’. Nuthin’ but what those lousy fellers believe when they’ve been hittin’ the bottle too long—a sort of great animal that lives up yonder...bigger’n anything else in the Bush, an’ ain’t suppose to very good to look at...” The Wendigo - Algernon Blackwood
Story in description!
Day 19-Sling: Cecelia had collected the hearts from the people Nikolai had left in the street. It had taken some time harvesting them when no one was looking, but she managed to gather quite a few. The creature’s strength came back slowly as she fed it, it began to be more sure of its footing and stand taller. When she was sure it was well enough to escape, she asked for it to follow her and lead it back to the dungeon’s entrance. The stairs were steep and narrow, the creature had a hard time walking through some of the corridors. It was a miracle they had made it unnoticed out of the building and reached the gardens. Cecelia was just about to tell the creature to stay low when it grabbed her clothes with its front teeth and slung her on its back. She barely had time to hold on when it began to run. The screams of guards filled the air behind them but it was no matter, their horses couldn’t match the speed of the monster. Before long they were free from the dreadful city of Sikkat and running along the beaches to the south.
