“WE WILL NEVER FORGET”.
I was sitting in English class just settling down at my computer in the computer lab. The announcement comes over the intercom of the school, “ The twin towers have hit, our nation is under attack”. I’m a junior in HS and we are all confused, not really listening, and I was thinking they were re enacting something that happened years ago. But, I was wrong.
I sudden feel of panic came over me. •
Here I was just a HS kid in the middle of Kansas who is from New Jersey and all our family still lived there. I remember my dad being a mess as he tried to get a hold of EVERYONE we knew and couldn’t. •
I walked in the sliding glass door of my house just as the 2nd tower was being hit and watched it with tears in my eyes and listening to my dad screaming.•
We were under attack. •
The rest of the day was somewhat of a blur after that.•
At about 6:00 am on September 12, 2001, our house phone rang and it was my Aunt Pat on the other line, “Missy, it’s Aunt Pat. Joe was in flight 93, I need to talk to your dad”. I remember jumping out of bed, and running the phone to my dad.•
Joe DeLuca was link between my parents and my family. Joe and Cars is what brought my parents together really.
I vaguely remember him. But I definitely know the legacy he left behind and the stories my family tells.•
We will NEVER forget!. “Let’s Roll”.
